Surgical Technologist

The surgical technologist assists with care of the surgical patient during the intraoperative phase of care. The CST is very knowledgeable and skilled using surgical instrumentation.

• Provides patient care activities directed toward the perioperative patients comfort and personal needs.
• Protects patient sensitivities and right to privacy.
• Maintains patient confidentiality by following all HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Participates in surgical safety time-out procedures and processes.
• Checks all supplies for expiration dates prior to use.
• Participates in completion of daily assignments.
• Acts as a resource person regarding surgical instrumentation and supplies, orientation and staff teaching.

Required: 

Certification as a surgical technologist is required within the first year of employment

Preferred:

Graduate of an accredited program of surgical technology preferred

At least one year of surgical tech experience preferred
