Overview

Ultrasound certification required with experience in OB, Vascular, general and Echo.  General X-ray certification requested.  ARDMS and ARRT registry.  The Ultrasound / ECHO Technologist performs all ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, e.g. echocardiograms, abdominal and pelvic sonograms, for patients as ordered. They also perform radiology procedures as necessary. These procedures will be performed on various ages of patients in accordance with the age-specific delivery of care policy. This person will be able to operate all radiographic equipment, ultrasound equipment, and process images as needed.  

Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of all clerical duties in the front office.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of image maintenance and filing system.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of use of equipment in office, such as computer, fax, and copier.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge of the transportation of patients and patient care.
  5. Assists in coverage of department and telephone communication.
  6. Demonstrates knowledge of scheduling outpatients and inpatients, with the proper preparations.
  7. Demonstrates competence in being able to work independently performing all Ultrasound examinations, troubleshooting equipment problems, doing quality assurance on the ultrasound equipment, along with taking radiographs, portable, fluoroscopically, and surgical examinations.
  8. Identifies Age Specific needs of patient and complies with the same.
  9. Performs all duties as a Radio logic Technologist, along with being able to take emergency call with a response time of 30 minutes.
  10. Demonstrates ability to fully operate the ultrasound equipment, and all radiographic equipment along with performing routine equipment maintenance when necessary.
  11. Demonstrates eagerness to teach Radio logic Technology students.
  12. Demonstrates ability to use the PACS.
  13. Demonstrates professional attitude and interest in work by maintaining acceptable work habits and behavior.
  14. Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth and continuing education.
  15. Demonstrates knowledge of Radiology Department workflow processes, policies/procedures, adhering to quality improvement standards.
  16. Demonstrates commitment to customer service.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Abilities
    1. Associate in this position must demonstrate the ability to: read, write, and follow written instructions in English. Must demonstrate ability to cordially deal with the public.
  • Education and experience  
    1. Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiology. Must also be a graduate of an approved school ultrasonic technology.
  • Annual requirements, licensure, and certification 
    1. Must be registered or registry eligible with the ARRT. Must have current license to practice in the state of Iowa and maintain CPR Certification. Must be Registered in Ultrasound and registered or registry eligible in echocardiology.
  • Machines, tools, equipment and work aids
