RN Med/Surg

Qualified candidates are eligible for a $10,000 Forgivable Loan. (Similar to a sign-on bonus.)

The staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides general nursing care to those patients.   Requires current, active Iowa Nursing License;  prefer current BLS, ACLS, and PALS, but will train.

1. Delivers care to the patient in the health care continuum utilizing the nursing process.
2. Demonstrates the ability to manage a typical patient assignment.
3. Educates patients and families.
4. Efficiently delegates to and supervises LPNs and CNAs.
5. Efficiently coordinates ancillary services
6. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing technique.
7. Complies with all relevant nursing policies and procedures.
8. Complies with all relevant HCHC policies and standards.
9. Demonstrates flexibility with staffing needs.
10. Serves as a professional role model in appearance, communication, and ethical behavior.
11. Maintains self-development and educational standards.
12. Successful completion of skills checklist within 45 days of hire.

Med Surg RN

1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
2. Current state licensure by Iowa Board of Nursing.
3. Prefer current health related experience within the past five (5) years.
4. Prefer current BCLS certification or completion within six months of hire.
5. Prefer NRP certification or completion within three months.
6. Prefer Fetal Heart Monitoring Class certificate and 80% successful completion on interpretation exam or completion within three months.      
7. Prefer current ACLS certification or completion within one year of hire.
