    The Clinical Systems Analyst is responsible for assisting in the management and administration of all clinical based applications. This position will work with departments to evaluate new and existing applications, create and enhance system documentation, and implement documentation and workflow improvements using the change management process. This position is responsible for testing clinical applications, including changes made to those systems, and training end users in the use of clinical applications. This position may be assigned specific applications and systems to administer, update, and maintain to support clinical and ancillary operations. This position is required to participate in the Service Desk support queue and may on occasion be required to answer after hours calls related to clinical applications.

    Responsibilities

    1. Works closely with end users, including providers and nursing staff, to develop and improve clinical documentation and workflows, answer questions, and address concerns.
    2. Assists in the development of strategies to improve workflows and use of the electronic medical record within the organization.
    3. Assists in developing realistic timetables for implementation of applications and workflows.
    4. Works closely with non-clinical departments to coordinate the exchange of data between the financial and clinical components of systems.
    5. Educates end users, including providers, in the use of the EMR, which may include electronic documentation, order entry, etc.
    6. Research current and new technologies for the organization and departments to improve efficiencies, enhance end user satisfaction, and achieve strategic plans.
    7. Provides clinical application support for HCHC systems.
    8. Participate in Service Desk Support activities utilizing ticketing software to document and resolve issues in a detailed manner within the Service Level Agreements.
    9. May, on occasion, be required to take after-hours calls related to clinical systems.
    10. Reviews and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
    11. Documents and maintains procedures for systems and application design, installs, and validation.
    12. Creates and maintains reports for data analysis.
    13. Coordinates and performs in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and provides release management of non-clinical application upgrades and updates
    14. Assists with the development of documentation, as needed
    15. Participates on committees and task force groups, as needed

     

    Qualifications

    A. Abilities (required, not preferred)

    Associate in this position must demonstrate the ability to:
    - Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment dedicated to outstanding customer service
    - Possess the ability to work closely with medical staff and hospital associates of varying educational and cultural backgrounds
    - Rarely may be required to take after hours calls related to Clinical EMR Applications
    - Rarely may be required to assist nursing departments with clinical job role
    - Knowledge and Understanding of EMR applications including Evident (CPSI), Cerner, and T-System.
    - Knowledgeable about clinical workflows, process improvement, project management and Microsoft Office
    - Possesses basic software diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
     

    B. Education and experience (required, not preferred)
    - Graduate of a State Accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    - Licensed to practice in the State of Iowa
    - Must have at least three years of experience in a Clinical IT support role in a hospital setting or clinic
    - Project Management experience
    - Process Improvement experience

     

    C. Annual requirements, licensure, and certification
    - Must maintain Licensure to practice in the State of Iowa
    - BLS
    - ACLS
