  • Overview

    Licensed ARNP or PA with credentials in Family Practice. Previous outpatient clinic experience preferred. Will be working with a team of providers throughout Henry County Health Center Rural Health Clinics (Wayland/Winfield/Mount Pleasant).

    The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care at Physicians and Clinics of HCHC. Nurse Practitioner may practice independently when providing diagnosis and treatment, including writing orders and prescriptions in accordance with their license and the State of Iowa Scope of Practice.


    1. Provides direct medical care and consultation to the patients of the RHCs in accordance with the RHC's written policies and within the State of Iowa permitted scope of practice.
    2. Arranges for or refers patient to services which cannot be provided at the RHC.
    3. Consults and collaborates with Medical Director and/or physician(s) for delivery of medical care as appropriate.
    4. Ensures that adequate patient health records are maintained and/or transferred for patients needing additional treatment elsewhere.
    5. Collaborates with the Medical Director in the development, execution and periodic review of the written policies of the RHC and provides advice tot he RHC management on appropriate clinical policies.
    6. Actively participates in the annual program evaluation process including review of the RHC Policy and Procedure manual.
    7. Maintains cooperative attitude with the clinic personnel, physicians, patients and families as needed to enhance continuity of care and positive working environment.
    8. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
    9. Maintain clinic schedule according to hours of operation.

      1. Technical Skills
        1. Able to perform thorough patient history and physical assessments
        2. Able to diagnose disease states and administer appropriate treatment
        3. Knows own limits and consults with physician as appropriate
        4. Able to order, perform and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic procedures as appropriate
      2. Communication Skills
        1. Develops rapport with patients and families
        2. Works well with all clinic staff
        3. Participates in staff meetings to identify and solve clinic problems
      3. Documentation Skills
        1. Documents assessment and treatment plan clearly and concisely in patient chart, in a timely fashion
        2. Documents services and charges clearly and fully
    2. Education
      1. An advanced registered nurse practitioner currently licensed to practice in Iowa
      2. Holds current certification as:
        1. Primary care, family practice nurse practitioner by ANA, NBPNPA, AANP, and/or
        2. Nurse-midwife by ACNM
      3. Current Federal DEA and Iowa Controlled Substance Act certification
      4. Must be in good standing with the Iowa Board of Medicine
      5. BLS certification
    3. Annual Requirements
      1. Active member of HCHC Medical Staff
      2. Completed credentialing every 2 years
