  • Overview

    The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the Information Technology hardware and software infrastructures that support Henry County Health Center. This position will serve as Network Administrator and Server Administrator. The Systems Engineer also serves as the backup to the IT Director when needed. This position is responsible for working with internal resources and external venders and infrastructure partners to procure, design, install, and maintain the HCHC infrastructure and systems to achieve the organization’s strategic plan.


    1. Designs, documents, deploys, maintains, and supports LAN, WAN, and WLAN.
    2. Designs, documents, deploys, maintains, and supports Virtual and Physical Server and Storage Environment in order to meet organizational and departmental goals.
    3. Designs, documents, deploys, maintains, and supports Windows Server environment including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Terminal Services, and Licensing.
    4. Along with the IT Director, is responsible for achieving system uptime objectives.
    5. Along with the IT Director, is responsible for maintaining system and network security using firewalls, VLANS, industry best practices, and other security controls.
    6. May be required to perform routine and emergency maintenance on systems during maintenance windows that do not coincide with normal business hours.
    7. Assists with analyzing current and future technology needs and makes budget recommendations to the IT Director.
    8. Completes project tasks as assigned using Project Management Methodology and may serve as the Project Manager or assist the assigned Project Manager.
    9. Serves on HIT Committee and other committees as assigned
    10. In the absence of the IT Director, this position may be required to interpret policy, provide guidance, and perform other functions as required.
    11. Participates in development of IT Policies and Procedures
    12. Participate in Service Desk Support activities utilizing ticketing software to document and resolve issues in a detailed manner within the Service Level Agreements.
    13. Participates in after-hours call rotation as scheduled.

    Associate in this position must demonstrate the ability to:


        • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment dedicated to outstanding customer service
        • Participation in off hours on call support as part of a rotation is required
        • Understanding of VMWare, Server Operating Systems, Cisco IOS, Networking Protocols and Design, and Firewalls
        • Knowledge and understanding of Project Management Methodologies
        • Possesses advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

     Education and experience (required, not preferred)


    • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
    • Must have at least four years of experience in a Network/System Administrator position
    • Must have experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Virtual Private Networks, VMWare Virtualization, Terminal Services, Cisco Switches, Firewalls 
    • Related Certifications (CCNA, MCSE, Network+)
